Thames Tideway Tunnel
Project type
Infrastructure
Date
2025 - present
Location
London
£4.5bn 'super sewer' that reconnects London with the River Thames by cleaning up the river and delivering exciting new public realm spaces for residents and visitors.
Having worked on the landscape design for the Tideway planning application back in 2012 it's been a real privilege to have been back on the project, right at the other end of its lifecycle, as the team works towards completion of the public realm spaces that sit on top of the below-ground sewer infrastructure.
Since autumn 2025, I have been providing landscape supervisor and NEC3 project management services to Tideway through Fereday Pollard & Partners Architects.
As an engineering scheme, Tideway has been fully operational since February 2026 and to date has stopped millions of tonnes of sewage from entering the River Thames. Many of the 22 sites also have exciting new areas of public realm sitting on top of them, quite a number of which are built out into the river channel offering incredible views of the city and providing space for people and nature to enjoy.
